CHINA: SYCEE: AR tael (liang) (36.47g), Cribb-Class XXV, Group B, Mitch-4046, Group B, Shanxi Fushou small ingot sycee (shanxi fushou xiaobao), with square stamp with xi (double happiness, a character ubiquitous in Chinese weddings) at center with circular border, VF, ex James Farr Collection, ex Skip Lujack 2 February 1998. Known as ya xiang yuán bao, these sycees were traditionally a part of the bride's dowry for the groom, to be used towards family expenses and his business or academic endeavors.
