PADUAN & LATER IMITATIONS: ROMAN REPUBLIC: AR denarius (3.91g), Crawford-, fantasy, helmeted head right, SCIPIO / AFRICANVS // horse head right, AFRICHA (sic) RECEPTA, likely 18th century or earlier, overstruck on a denarius of L. Furius Brocchus (Crawford 414/1), VF. A coin with very similar descriptions appeared in E. E. Rath's auction (Numi Familiarum Romanarum, Lot 22, Nov. 6, 1780, Dresden).
