GREAT MONGOLS: Anonymous, ca. 1260s, AE dirham (6.25g), Bukhara, AH660, A-A1979.2, Arabic sikka / bukhara in obverse center, the Chinese name of the city, bu-hua, in reverse center, with the mint epithet baldat fakhira plus the date in the margin on both sides, clear date, excellent strike for this type, VF, RRR. This type, with the Chinese mint name instead of the Chinese character for "tax" (ke) is much rarer than the "tax" variety. A somewhat nicer example fetched $1900 in our Auction 31, Lot 760.
