Description

TENASSERIM-PEGU: Anonymous, 17th/18th century, cast large tin coin (77.38g), VC-110.1, Robinson-24 (plate 9.4), 68.5mm; knotted dragon (naga) left with long protruding pointed tongue, no dots below the dragon // jumble of meaningless symbols, probably an emergency issue from the Perak region; some very light porosity, VF-EF, RR. VC refers to the new publication by Kris Van den Cruyce, "The Large Tin and Lead Coins of Lower Burma", published in 2023. Van den Cruyce has identified the knotted "dragon" as the Naga.
