Description

KUSHAN: Huvishka, ca. 151-190, AV dinar (7.70g), G-342.1 (same dies), ANS-769 (same dies, acquired in 1944), half-length profile bust of king left, above the clouds, holding mace & ribboned spear, wearing tall leather helmet & bejewelled tunic // deity Ashaeixsho standing, within radiate halo, raising right hand in benediction, left hand akimbo; mount removed, couple small scratches either side, F-VF, RR. Ashaeixsho was the Zoroastrian god Asha-Vahishta, "multitude of truths," destroyer of fiends and illness, divine mediary for the supreme god Ahura Mazda.
