EGYPT (PTOLEMAIC): Ptolemy I, satrap, 323-305 BC, AR tetradrachm (15.68g), Alexandria, ca. 311-305 BC, Svoronos-146, CPE-59, SNG Copenhagen-18, first reduced Ptolemaic standard, in the name of Alexander III 'the Great' of Macedon, diademed head of the deified Alexander right, wearing elephant headdress and aegis with tiny Δ (artist's initial) // Athena Alkidemos advancing right, brandishing spear in right hand and carrying shield on left arm, monogram to inner left, inner right and outer right, eagle standing right on thunderbolt to lower right, a few scratches on both sides, well-struck example in fine style, Choice VF
