MACEDONIAN KINGDOM: Alexander III "the Great", 336-323 BC, AR tetradrachm (17.24g), Damascus, ca. 330-320 BC, Price-3210, lifetime or early posthumous issue, head of Herakles to right, wearing lionskin headdress // Zeus Aëtophoros seated left on backless throne, holding lotos-tipped scepter in his left, forepart of ram right in left field, and below throne, bold excellent strike on a pair of superbly engraved dies, slight die shift on reverse, well-aged toning with iridescent hues, a magnificent specimen!
