UNITED STATES: 50 cents, 1813, PCGS graded AU50, Capped Bust type, lettered edge. Half dollar production continued at a steady pace during 1813 with seven obverse dies paired with eight reverses in various combinations for a total of ten die marriages. A few of these varieties are slightly scarce, but none come even close to being rare. Many 1813 half dollars are seriously impaired by multiple die-clashings and extreme die erosion, sometimes in combination. Certain varieties are noted for this flaw and are somewhat rare in their prime die states.
