Description

ABBASID:HUGE LOT of 624 silver dirhams, mostly of al-Muqtadir (908-932), but some earlier ones of al-Muktafi and later of al-Radi, also some much earlier Abbasid caliphs, and a few Buwayhid dirhams, about half with legible mint name, some with legible date; the most common mint for the Abbasid dirhams is Madinat al-Salam, but we've seen examples of al-Basra, Shiraz, Wasit, Tustar min al-Ahwaz, Surra man Ra'a, al-Mawsil, and probably many more, and the Buwayhid are mostly Shiraz, but also noted al-Basra and Kurd Fana Khusra, also probably many more mints; most are weakly struck, often with considerable flatness; there are no rare mints and no higher grade examples, average Fine to VF condition, only a few nicer, and some worse; retail value $8000, lot of 624 pieces.
Estimate: USD 3500 - 5000
