BYZANTINE EMPIRE: Heraclius, 610-641, AV solidus (3.70g), S-738 style, standard type (busts of Heraclius & his son // cross on steps), unidentified barbaric mint, location unknown, severely blundered legends on both sides, broad flan with wide outer margin on both sides, VF to EF, R. A similar-style wide margin solidus, but imitating Justinian I, was sold in Hess-Divo Auction 315, Lot 254.
