Struck at Pilgrim's Rest (thus its "Veld" or "Field" Pond nickname) using unpolished equipment authorized by acting President Schalk Burger. Sharply struck for the issue with surfaces that are a bit bright but retain loads of charm. A relatively affordable example of this classic 20th century Boer War emergency issue.
