JAPAN. Great Japanese Government - Ministry of Finance. 1 Yen, 1914. P-M10. PMG Very Fine 20 EPQ.
Wonderful 1 Yen in fully original condition of this rare military issue that was issued during the occupation of Tsingtao. Deceptively scarce in any grade, and especially with the original paper seen here, as is evident by the "Exceptional Paper Quality" qualifier from PMG. In 1914, the Japanese attacked the German-controlled port city of Tsingtao (now Qingdao) in China, swiftly capturing it to expand its influence in East Asia and secure strategic maritime routes. The city was returned to China in 1922, although Japan continued to exercise its control over the city through its railroad and the economic sector.

此張一圓券，乃日本佔領青島時期所發行之軍用鈔券，版別稀有，彌足珍貴，不論品相如何，皆為收藏家追捧之物。觀其品相，完好如初，紙質上乘尤為難得，故而PMG評級特別加註“EPQ”，更顯其珍貴。 回溯歷史，公元1914年，日本為擴張其在東亞之勢力，並控制重要海上航線，悍然出兵，攻佔了德國租借地青島。直至1922年，青島才得以歸還予中國，後續日本仍通過鐵路及經濟手段，對青島施加影響。
