KM-A130; Basso-56; PNM#6-Not Listed; PNM#16-292; PNM#21-VIII-107; Cacho-Not Listed; Gil-5-4-3-III. Issued by decree of 20 December 1834 and suppressed 31 March 1837 (by decree of 1 February 1836). Countermark: Type VI; crowned Y.II. within circular incuse. Applied to the obverse of a 1833-Pi JS Mexico Republic 8 Reales (KM-377.12). A charming example of the ever popular countermarked type, delivering a boldly impressed countermark, with a charmingly detailed undertype. The noted tooling on the reverse is not intense, and has been toned over dulling the sharpness of these marks. A handsome and presentable specimen that delivers for those collectors seeking an example of this always popular type.
