Commemorative Dollar Celebrating the Old City Hall in Hong Kong

Commemorative in nature, this medallic Dollar celebrates the inauguration of the Old City Hall in Hong Kong, with the usual reverse types, featuring denomination, English and/or Chinese legends, and other decorative elements, lacking and, in their place, text recounting the laying of the foundation stone on 23 February 1867. VERY RARE and a great historical touchstone. Old City Hall in Hong Kong was completed in 1869 after two years of construction, and differed from many other public buildings in that it did not house government offices, but rather was rather used only for public purposes. A theater, library, and museum were among the many rooms available for public use.
