REUNION. Tresor Colonial. 50 Centimes, ND (1886). P-8r. Remainder. PMG Very Fine 30.
Dating back to the late 19th century, this is a wholesome and nicely preserved example of this scarce French colonial type from this small island located due east of Madagascar. Reunion had a rather small population at this time and had issued a handful of low value notes over the years to supplement the circulating coinage (or lack thereof). The present example features a higher quality engraving than earlier issues. The lack of a handwritten date confirms its status as a remainder, but the signature combination of Campenon and Drouet makes it part of the 1886 issue of this type. PMG Comments "Tears."
