GREAT BRITAIN. 6 Pence, 1562. London Mint. Elizabeth I. NGC EF-45.
S-2595. Pale blue tones highlight old golden gray surfaces. Good residual luster remains on both sides, only minimal hairlines or handling, a few very light old scratches in left obverse field, a speck of old residue in lower right reverse field. A handsome example of this early milled type. Sixpences of Elizabeth are among the most often found coins in 17th century contexts in Virginia, the land named the Virgin Queen. Needless to say, most of those do not emerge from the ground this beautifully preserved.
