1788 Connecticut Copper. Miller 15.2-P, W-4590. Rarity-5. Draped Bust Left. VF-25 (PCGS).
113.2 grains. An interesting double strike, with strong evidence of the two impressions at the effigy's face and in the distortion of the obverse legend, while the reverse shows the error best at the digits of the date which are prominently doubled. Bold clash marks are also seen in the left obverse field where the shield and ribbons from the reverse are deeply impressed. Uniform light olive brown aside from a very slightly porous area at CTO of AUCTORI. A trace of microgranularity and an obvious natural void in the edge, but the planchet has good integrity otherwise. Actually a rather lovely specimen for the color and preservation. Partrick's was sharper and a bit higher grade, but damaged, while Syd's primary coin was also sharper but with a lot of planchet texture roughness. This is probably a Condition Census example.
