Early American Newspaper with an Important Advertisement Related to Washington Medals.
Columbian Centinel and Massachusetts Federalist, January 22, 1800. Complete issue, one leaf, 4 pages, disbound from a larger volume with some losses at left margin. Last page includes an advertisement from Eben Moulton titled FOR THE LADIES offering "Washington Medals, designed to be put in Lockets, & c." This type of gold oval medal is now cataloged as Musante GW-75 or Baker-169. See the intact example in our March 2024 Baltimore sale, lot 3148. An important original reference to a rare and historic medal.
