FRANCE. Constitution. White Metal Écu de 6 Livres Essai (Pattern), Year 2/1791. Paris Mint. Louis XVI. PCGS SPECIMEN-61.
cf. Maz-62 (for uniface obv. & rev.); cf. Gad-47.(c) (lead); cf. Ciani-2229-29A (silver & copper). By J.-P. Droz. Pale gray in hue, this trial for Droz's design features a somewhat matte nature and hints of olive sprinkled throughout. RARE and highly impressive.
From the Richard Margolis Collection (acquired from Émile Bourgey on 11 January 1957).
