1871 Shield Nickel. MS-66 (PCGS). CAC.
Brilliant satin surfaces are fully struck with superior technical quality for a circulation strike nickel of this type. The key date 1871 was produced to the extent of just 561,000 pieces, and with most contemporary collectors opting for examples of the year's Proof issue few Mint State examples were set aside. Conditionally rare, this upper end Gem would serve as a highlight in the finest set of this 19th century minor coin series.
