COLOMBIA. Distrito de Honda. 4 Pesos, 30.12.1857. P-Unlisted. DP-Unlisted. PMG About Uncirculated 50 Net. Edge Damage, Ink Burn.
Issued by the Church Treasury in the city and district of Honda in Tolima, this note is the first we have seen of this kind, and a look at the contemporary literature does not reveal other examples. It entitles the bearer to four pesos out of the income or parish contributions after January first, 1858. Uniface printing with value, date and serial number filled in by hand, along with two signatures. At the time that this was issued the city of Honda (today home to about 25,000 residents and a heritage town of Colombia) as the main point of transit between Bogota and the Caribbean coast. An important opportunity for the Colombian specialist. PMG comments "Edge Damage, Ink Burn."
