2013 Casascius 0.5 Bitcoin. Loaded. Firstbits 12CExM8t. Series 2. Brass. MS-67 PL (ICG).
Loaded with 0.5 BTC. A truly superior example of this "sleeper" denomination in the Casascius series. This specimen is presented from the Collection of Jimmy Song, the famed Bitcoin entrepreneur, educator, and author. The surfaces are bathed in rich honey-gold shades and satin luster across the design elements. The obverse border features intense reflectivity that is fully deserving of the Prooflike designation from ICG. A lesser-graded MS-66 (PCGS) example sold for $27,600 in our Spring 2023 sale and we are confident that this example delivers even greater eye appeal. As a whole, the brass 2013 Casascius 0.5 BTC are somewhat of an endangered species. While just over 3,100 have been documented to be funded, more than 30% of those have since been peeled and redeemed. We have witnessed this percentage slowing creeping higher and higher over the past several years since we first entered this category. Undoubtedly, this series will continue to be diminished by unknowing collectors as time goes on. This incredible Superb Gem specimen represents an important and fleeting opportunity.
