1854 Gold Dollar. Type I. MS-65 (PCGS). CAC.
A delightfully original and well preserved Gem from the last year of the Type I gold dollar. Liberty's hair tresses and coronet, the star centers, and the details of the wreath are all crisply defined from an exacting blow from the dies. The surfaces are smooth, lustrous, and wonderfully patinated with a peach-rose gold hue. Careful examination shows extensive die cracks on both sides. An ideal candidate for a wonderful gold type set, this example will see premium bidding for its premium quality.
