Piedmont, Alabama. $10 1902 Red Seal. Fr. 613. The First NB. Charter #7464. PMG About Uncirculated 55. Serial Number 2.
First offered in 2016, this gorgeous $10 Red Seal from a small one-bank town in rural Calhoun County is unrecorded by the National Bank Note Census and will account for the sole Red Seal on this charter once recorded. Status aside as a unique Alabama rarity, the technical and aesthetic qualities of this note firmly separate it from its peers. Representing the highest graded example to date, this highly original note suffers from exceptional eye appeal, superb penned signatures, vivid lifelike cherry red overprints, and a sense of rarity that cannot easily be replicated even among some of the rarest Nationals recorded for Alabama as a whole. A pair of pinholes are nonetheless present, hence a singular comment from PMG mentioning "Pinholes," these however fail to detract from the eye appeal of this exceptional rarity.
