Description

WISCONSIN. Mayfield. 1864 Edward Wirth. Fuld-460A-1do. Rarity-9. Copper-Nickel. Plain Edge. Overstruck on an 1864 Copper-Nickel Indian Cent. MS-65 (NGC).

19 mm. Handsome medium tan surfaces with a tinge of pale rose. This is a sharply struck store card, faint traces of the undertype discernible on both sides, including its date (very faintly) on the reverse. Frosty luster and bushes of iridescent apricot and golden-blue iridescence further the appeal of this solid Gem Mint State example.

Ex Thomas L. Elder's sale of September 17, 1938, lot 1296; Rich Hartzog, August 8, 1998; Dr. Edmund Rosen Collection; Steve Hayden, December 1, 2006; Stephen L. Tanenbaum Collection.

Estimate: $1000
