Located in Nassau County on the border of Georgia, Fernandina was once an important commercial hub with its deep-water port and proximity to major railroads. Befitting that distinction several banks called Fernandina home including the Bank of Fernandina which issued a series of attractive notes like this one offered here today. At center, a central vignette of a large steamship with other smaller sailing vessels and city in background. Bold crimson side panels house differing "5" protectors. Signed by Geo. S.
