GREAT BRITAIN. Shilling, 1703-VIGO. Anne (1702-14). NGC MS-62.
S-3586; KM-517.1; ESC-1388 (old ESC-1131 listed on holder). Signed 'VIGO' below Anne's bust, thus signifying this piece as having been struck from silver seized at Vigo Bay, Spain, during one of the opening acts of the War of Spanish Succession. Lightly toned with a strong portrait and vivid gleam in the fields that elevates the in hand appearance. Very desirable as one of the finest certified with a coveted pedigree to boot.
Ex: Cheshire Collection.
