FRANCE. Napoleon as First Consul/Restoration of the Cisalpine Republic Silver Medal, Year VIII (1799/1800). Turin Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-55.
Bramsen-42; Julius-802. By C. Lavy. Obverse: Bare head left; Reverse: Nude Hercules, with facial features of Napoleon, uplifting female allegory of the Cisalpine Republic; in background, Victory standing right, affixing shield to palm tree; rising sun over mountaintop at a distance. Edge: Plain. Quite deeply toned and attractive, this SCARCE medal yields some enchanting brilliance remaining in the fields. Furthering its overall appeal that much more is its strong Neoclassical design upon the reverse, an aspect ever-celebrated in the Napoleonic series of medals.
Estimate: $2500.00- $3000.00
