PERU. 1/4 Real, 1823/0-L. Lima Mint. Ferdinand VII. NGC MS-61.
EMO-510.1 (Plate coin); KM-108; Cal-273. A quite individual exemplar with a curiously off-center strike. A Mint State example, the coin is fresh enough to exhibit traces of the original underlying "0" in the date. Note: a number of die characteristics led Emilio Ortiz to conclude that this coin was struck with recut dies for 1820 originating from the Guatemala mint.
