1859-C Gold Dollar. Winter-1, the only known dies. Unc Details--Cleaned (PCGS).
Soft yellow-golden fields and devices retain an ample degree of mint frost on either side despite the stated cleaning. As is the norm for this rare Charlotte Mint issue (only a small percentage remain from an original mintage of just 5,235 pieces), the design features display areas of striking weakness, and the surfaces are somewhat textured in places. As a future identifier, a diagonal contact mark is noted on Liberty's cheek and lower hair.
PCGS# 7552. NGC ID: 25CM.
