MEXICO. L.V.S. War of Independence. 2 Reales, ND (1811-14). PCGS Genuine--Environmental Damage, Fine Details.

cf. KM-C286 (for countermark). Initials L.V.S. in script countermark struck on cast 1807-Mo TH 2 Reales of Charles IV (KM-91). This countermark is seldom seen in any form, but found unaccompanied by any other countermark as in this example it is unlisted and EXTREMELY RARE. The mark is seen on the obverse of the rather crudely-produced host, showing quite clear and distinguishable detail. The surfaces are deep steel-blue in color and show minor encrustation, but are otherwise well-preserved considering its cast manufacture. A highly intriguing piece worthy of close consideration from specialist collectors.
