Congress of Chilpanzingo (Type A) countermark on cast 1811 Zacatecas 8 Reales of Ferdinand VII (KM-191). A VERY RARE and unlisted host for this insurgent countermark. Details on the bow-and-arrow countermark appear unmistakably on the obverse of the royalist host. Though rather well-circulated, the piece retains a clear date and outer legends. The noted scratch is seen at about 12 o'clock, but the coin's deep mottling of olive and charcoal tones disguises this defect quite nicely. A great offering for specialist collectors.
