GUATEMALA. Central American Republic. 8 Reales, 1826-NG M. Nueva Guatemala Mint. NGC AU-58.
KM-4. A delightful ring of rainbow peripheral iridescence accent the otherwise pewter gray complexion of this Very Choice AU coin. Frosty luster abounds, emphasizing the overall excellent preservation of the surfaces. Only light friction is apparent across the high points and distracting blemishes are absent. The mountains are sharp throughout, showing intricate detail to the slopes, and much of the tree's foliage is also crisp. Struck from a slightly more advanced state of the dies, the obverse has a crack passing through the sun and the reverse is cracked to the right of the tree's canopy. With only 7 in higher grades at NGC, The present piece surely represents an important opportunity for specialists.
