1788 Vermont Copper. RR-31, Bressett 24-U, Vlack 22-88VT, W-2260. Rarity-4. GEORGIVS III REX. EF-40 (PCGS).
129.8 grains. This is about as high grade and sharply struck a RR-31 as you will find, with the hair, laurel wreath and other bust detail sharp if interrupted by a large planchet irregularity at obverse center. Well-centered on a large flan, with much of the widely spaced, triangular denticulation visible around the circumference, while the reverse is centered toward 7 o'clock, with the date tight to the rim and weakened by a crescent of black scale at lower reverse rim. We have not encountered any examples appreciably finer than this coin, which is tied with the other EF-40 in this sale for the finest graded at PCGS.
PCGS# 687737.
