Description

1806 Capped Bust Right Half Eagle. BD-6. Rarity-2. Round-Top 6, Stars 7x6. AU-53 (NGC). CAC.
The present specimen is a soft deep gold with honey-orange highlights throughout, and with plenty of luster and mint frost in the protected areas as well. The surfaces are pleasing and despite several wispy marks in and around the central reverse that mainly come to light under low magnification, no blemishes of a serious nature are presented to the unaided eye. This issue represents the only use of an obverse die with a Round-Top 6 in the date; the other 1806 issues, five all told, feature a Pointed 9 in the date. This variety is also the first to bear the 7x6 obverse star arrangement; previous issues in the design type all feature an 8X5 star arrangement. Choice for the grade and ideally suited for an advanced type set.
PCGS# 8089. NGC ID: BFXJ.
From the Kohler Wisconsin Collection.

Estimate: $8000
