1788 Massachusetts Cent. Ryder 2-B, W-6200. Rarity-4-. Period After MASSACHUSETTS. EF-45 BN (NGC).
With blended deep golden-brown and steely-copper patina to surfaces that are free of significant marks and flan flaws. Both sides present as pleasingly smooth during in hand viewing, as such, although closer inspection with a loupe reveals a trace of roughness in some of the recesses of the design. As well, there is an extremely minor lamination (as made) from the Native American's mouth to the upper left obverse border that accuracy alone compels us to mention. The strike is a bit tight to the upper obverse, lower reverse, but to no great detriment as we note abundant boldness of detail at the assigned grade level.
