cf. Baldwin's of St. James's 18, 532 (for a similar pendant from this lodge). Dimensions: 55mm x 70mm. Inscribed to Richard Sutton, no. 278. All elements engraved. Obverse: Emblem of the Grand Lodge of Ireland--coat-of-arms with winged and hooved supporters; all within archway, with globe-topped pillars to left and right; below, banner reading HOLINESS TO THE LORD; upon checkered floor, skull and crossbones between ark and ladder; Reverse: Compass containing radiant personification of the sun, level, and plans, as well as other masonic implements; all between two pillars; above, radiant Eye of Providence and banner reading AMOR HONOR ET JUSTITIA; below checkered floor, coffin with curved, measured ruler and inscription--RICd SUTTON No 278. Expertly engraved, this RARE masonic pendant or jewel has a loop at the top for suspension. Lightly toned, with exceptional detail and contrast. Undoubtedly one of the more engaging and interesting pieces of masonic history that one will encounter.
