MACEDON. Kingdom of Macedon. Time of Alexander III (the Great) to Seleukos I, ca. 324/3-300 B.C. AV Stater (8.45 gms), Uncertain Mint. NGC Ch VF, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 2/5. Brushed, Edge Marks, Graffito.
Price-Unlisted; cf. CNG E-500, 148. Obverse: Helmeted head of Athena right; Reverse: Nike standing left, holding wreath and stylis; rose below left wing. A VERY RARE and unusual type from the East, this example does exhibit numerous flaws, likely from time as a jewelry piece, but nevertheless offers the opportunity for the specialist in the series.
