MACEDON. Kingdom of Macedon. Time of Philip II to Alexander III (the Great), 340/36-328 B.C. AV Stater (8.55 gms), Amphipolis Mint. NGC Ch VF, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 1/5. Scuffs, Ex Jewelry.
SNG ANS-250-4. Obverse: Laureate head of Apollo right; Reverse: Charioteer, holding kentron and reins, driving biga right; ivy leaf below. A number of marks are observed in the lower portion of the reverse, clearly from its time in jewelry, but this specimen serves as a solid budget example of the type spanning their two reigns.
