Fr. 1225h. 1900 $10,000 Gold Certificate. PCGS Currency Very Fine 25.
A mid-VF example of this non-redeemable high denomination gold certificate. Perforation cancelled at right on reverse - "Payable Only to the Treasurer of the U.S. or a Federal Reserve Bank." The front indicates a "Washington Issue", dated Dec. 6, 1916. The word "Assistant" has been blacked out at center, with the word "Deputy" added in front of the Assistant Treasurer signature (F. J. F. Thiel) at bottom. While displaying some wear consistent with the grade, it remains an attractive example. A tight margin at top, but no loss of design. PCGS notes "Small Edge Splits" on the back of the holder. PCGS Currency comments "Perforated Cancelled, Small Edge Splits".
