1819 Matron Head Cent. N-9. Rarity-1. Small Date. MS-63 BN (PCGS).
A lovely Choice Uncirculated large cent that also features an impressive numismatic provenance. Frosty golden-brown surfaces reveal faint rose-apricot undertones as the coin dips into a light. The strike comes up a bit short at the borders, but some denticulation is present, and the detail is significantly sharper toward the centers. Blemishes are expectably smooth for the assigned numeric grade, and there is tremendous appeal here for both type collectors and specialists in middle date large cents. NGC insert #674633-007 is included with this lot. It includes a grade of MS-63 RB from an earlier certification of this coin, as well as the Pittman provenance.
