Description

1903-S Liberty Head Half Eagle. MS-63+ (PCGS). CAC.
A sensational golden-apricot-gold coin, this 1903-S is finer than usual for the issue. It exhibits frosty luster with bold design definition on both sides. Collectors seeking a single high quality example to represent this series typically gravitate to late date issues like the 1903-S for, generally speaking, they include most of the best produced and most carefully preserved, like this piece. The softness of gold as a coinage metal and the manner in which these issues were handled means that most Mint State survivors are usually confined to the lowest grades due to abrasions. The present example is sure to please.
PCGS# 8408. NGC ID: 25Z3.
From the Fairmont Collection - CAG Set.
