1892-S Morgan Silver Dollar. AU-58 (PCGS).
Virtually complete satin luster and overall full striking detail confirm this coin as a conditionally rare 1892-S Morgan dollar. Lightly toned around the obverse periphery, where pretty iridescent champagne-color and powder blue colors are seen. Our offering of the NGC MS-61 in the preceding lot notwithstanding, the legendary 1892-S is one of the rarest silver dollars of this type in Mint State. Very few examples remain at that level of preservation, and they are so costly as to be out of reach for most buyers in today's market. We are happy to offer this Choice AU coin for discriminating collectors. It is one of the nicest near-Mint pieces that we have handled in recent memory, and it is sure to have no difficulty finding its way into a high grade Morgan dollar set comprised mostly of Mint State coins.
