GERMANY. Harz. Silver Medallic Baptismal 2 Talers, ND (ca. late 17th Century). Zellerfeld Mint. NGC AU-58.
Knyphausen-7295. Obverse: Baptism of Jesus in the River Jordan; Reverse: Inscription in 10 lines, denomination "2" punch marked below. An impressive baptismal Double Taler in terms of both design and heft, this example displays almost no evidence of handling and the details are quite strong. Some deep toning reaches a terminal state on the reverse, noted here for completeness.
