Obverse: St. John the Baptist standing facing, holding Gospels surmounted by agnus Dei (lamb of God) standing left; between feet, head of dog right; Reverse: Cross fleuree in saltire, with cruciform coat-of-arms in angles; IΩ99 (archaic date) in legend. A great example of an early dated coin in gold, this evenly handled specimen retains solid overall detail, with a very clear reading of the date in the upper left portion of the reverse legend.
