Offering quality that is seemingly RARELY if ever encountered, this incredible crown radiates with tremendous originality and emanates from the final year of issue for the reign of Christian IV. Very well centered and struck, and yielding gunmetal gray toning with some delightful hints of champagne in the protected areas, this resounding specimen will undoubtedly generate tremendous enthusiasm and find its way into an advanced cabinet of Scandinavian treasures or world crowns in general. A seldom-offered Davenport type in certified Mint State quality, the last offered, an NGC-graded MS-62, appeared at auction in June of last year. Sold by MDC in Monaco, it brought 20,000 Euros hammer (approximated $21,333 + hammer) in that sale. Prior to that, the last certified Mint State example appeared at auction in 2015. Considering that, and that this example is one grade point higher than the most-recent sale, we expect competition to be fierce for this nearly unduplicated crown.
