TRINIDAD. Trinidad - Bolivia. Dollar (9 Shillings - 9 Bitts), ND (1811). George III. PCGS VF-20.
KM-Unlisted; Prid-3. Issued by local authority of 11 June 1811. Countermark: Octagonal shaped cut pierced from the obverse. Applied to a 1808-PTS PJ Bolivia bust 8 Reales of Charles IIII (IV) (KM-73). This somewhat sneaky and unassuming host is rather quite interesting being the last year for this ruler and is seldom encountered with any kind countermark for this mint. Moderately worn, this handsome example offers pleasing old cabinet patina with richer coloration amongst the devices and protected areas. A slight iridescent sheen becomes apparent when tilted in the light with a few areas of glossiness adding to its originality. This type circulated for an extended period of time usually appearing in well-worn conditions, often times with signs is mistreatment, that the present example is quite refreshing when compared to many others on the market.
