BITHYNIA. Kios. AR Tetradrachm (16.88 gms), ca. 280-250 B.C. NGC Ch EF, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 4/5.
HGC-7, 555. In the name and types of Lysimachos of Thrace. Obverse: Diademed head of the deified Alexander right, with horn of Ammon; Reverse: Athena seated left on throne, holding crowning Nike; transverse spear in background, club to outer left, monogram to inner left; bow-in-bowcase and monogram in exergue. A fairly SCARCE posthumous issue that became a standard civic type, this lightly handled example presents charming gray surfaces with some elegant hints of brilliance residing in the protected areas.
