THRACE. The Danubian District. Istros. AR Drachm (6.73 gms), ca. 340/30-313 B.C. NGC Ch AU★, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 5/5. Fine Style.
HGC-3.2, 1801; SNG BM Black Sea-Unlisted; AMNG-407. Obverse: Facing male heads, the right inverted; Reverse: Sea-eagle left, grasping dolphin with talons; Ξ below. Well struck from dies that were much more elegantly engraved than is generally encountered for the type, this barely handled example exudes tremendous eye appeal and retains charming surface quality as well. Thus, wholly deserving of its star designation for superior flair and majesty.
