MACEDON. Kingdom of Macedon. Antigonos I Monophthalmos, as Strategos of Asia, 320-306/5 B.C. AV Stater (8.53 gms), Babylon Mint, ca. 311-308 B.C. NGC AU, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 3/5. Fine Style. Scuffs.
Pr-3721. In the name and types of Alexander III (the Great). Obverse: Helmeted head of Athena right; Reverse: Nike standing to left, holding wreath and stylis; in lower left field, MHP monogram in wreath; XA monogram in lower right field. A most impressive example, this tremendous piece delivers a full strike and rich luster, with only the light trace of wearing on the surfaces. A piece that is certain to capture much attention when it is crosses the auction block.
